The Woodmore Fund

On November 21, 2016, Chattanooga suffered a tremendous loss when a school bus traveling from Woodmore Elementary school children flipped and collided into a tree. The accident resulted in five fatalities, dozens of injuries, and many devastated families.

Immediately, Chattanoogans began to reach out to offer help and support. We know the families impacted the most by this tragedy will need our assistance in the days, weeks, and months to come. From immediate medical bills to long-term care, many of our Woodmore families will need both financial assistance and community support. If you are able to give a financial donation, consider donating to The Woodmore Fund.

Counseling Resources

Good Evening Woodmore Elementary School Families,

This is your principal, Mrs. Cothran. Please review the following announcements:

We continue to grieve with our families who are in the midst of laying their children to rest. Our staff continues to support and pray for the families who still have children in the hospital and for families who have children recovering at home.

Bus 366 has been replaced with bus 357. The bus will be driven by an experienced driver. We will have an HCDE staff member ride all of our buses for the morning and the afternoon route.

We have counselors in place for students to receive support should they need to talk to anyone. If for any reason investigators ask to speak with any of our students, this request will not be granted without parent permission. We are encouraging all students to attend school. We truly feel that being back at school and in a routine is the best way for students to begin to heal from this terrible tragedy.

Funeral services for Zoie Nash will be held at Hope City Church on Thursday, December 1st at 12 noon. Zoie’s body will lie in state Wednesday from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. The visitation will take place at Taylor Funeral home. Zoie’s family asks attendees to wear purple, black, and gray since those are her softball team’s colors.

If you have any questions or concerns this week, please give us a call at 493-0394.
